Norman Pirollo discovered a passion for working with wood at an early age and over the years he
has been introduced to hand tools and a variety of hand tool techniques.
Norman pursued a career
                          in the
IT industry for many years after having studied Computer Science. He has since returned to
this passion and craft, due to the love of working with his hands and the quest for creating unique
                          studio furniture and wood art.
As a designer and craftsman, Norman has accumulated fifteen years
of expertise in working with wood. He has also acquired cabinetmaking certification and has since
received specialized training through courses with renown, contemporary craftsmen and artisans.

Through the deep admiration for his craft and possessing the necessary virtues such as patience
and attention to detail, Norman's goal is to create striking studio furniture, sculptural and wood art.

Working primarily by himself and without distractions, Norman finds this necessary to be able to
focus on the work at hand. Dedicating himself to one piece at a time, he devotes his full complement
of skills to this piece. Although some machine work is necessary in the preparation of lumber for his
furniture and wood art, a large component of Norman's handcrafting is performed with hand tools.

Studio furniture and fine art furniture take you far beyond the bounds of mass production

Norman prides himself on wood selection, selecting the highest quality and most dramatically
figured woods as components of his designs. Wood preparation and finishing are a large part of his
work and therefore he devotes considerable time to these stages. In the past year, Norman's work
has been featured in published books such as "Studio Furniture: Today's Leading Woodworkers",
"Wood Art Today 2" and the upcoming "500 Cabinets". Norman currently resides and operates his
studio in a country setting outside Ottawa, Ontario.
