With sufficient notice and scheduling, I offer specialized, individual based training in my studio
with an emphasis on hand tool techniques and use. The topics range from:

basic design skills ( wading through the design process)

wood selection ( selecting the best wood for furniture)
wood preparation ( from rough to surfaced and dimensioned)
sharpening skills ( tuning hand plane irons, chisels)
joinery ( dovetails, mortise and tenon, lap, etc.)

hand tool skills ( hand planes, chisels, shooting board)
veneering ( bookmatching, vacuum pressing, slicing veneers)
hand-applied finishes ( shellac, wiping oils)

This training is offered in two, three or five day sessions, which comprise eight hour days.
I will only teach, demonstrate and discuss on topics I am very familiar and knowledgeable in,
establishing a good relationship between myself and the student. Initially, I will discuss with a
student exactly what their requirements are and design a course around this particular requirement,
I then define the curriculum for the student to follow what we have discussed. The courses are
set up for one on one or with two students as a maximum, therefore I will be essentially dedicated
to the student for this period of time, maximizing the knowledge transfer to the student. I do not
provide a project based training program, but instead skills development training or instruction.

My current fees for this instruction or courses is in daily blocks of time as follows:
475.00 for two days | 700.00 for three days  | 1200.00 for five days

The student is provided with a small set of essential hand tools to be used for the duration of
the course or instructional period, or they can provide their own tools.
