I work directly with you in establishing your needs. Along with small tables and
display cabinets,
I design and create wood art utilizing mixed media such as glass and metal. The
display cabinets are
designed to showcase
your
prized collection or individual small art pieces. The smaller wood art can
support a small art object or simply become an art object in itself. Once you
have decided on an
idea of
a display cabinet to be the medium for your collection, I work with you to develop
the
optimum
sizing, interior layout, and select the woods to be used. There are models
in my current
portfolio to base your cabinet design on.
Wood art designs are often one of a kind and I can design
a piece
based on preliminary sketching created in conjunction with you. Each of my
designs is unique
and either very different or slightly different from each other. This
design process is included in my
pricing. This also serves to
ensure you are
truly commissioning a one of a kind piece of furniture.

My pricing is composed of material costs and handcrafting time for
the piece. Most, if not all pieces
are handcrafted over a
4-5 week
period which allows for initial design work.
The finishing process is
over a period of days.
The commission stage involves creating a proposal after having
determined
what effect or purpose you are trying to accomplish with the piece. A proposal is then drafted,
and if you accept, I proceed with a
few sketches of the piece. Upon acceptance of a sketch and
drawing, a deposit
is paid, with the balance due upon completion. Progress photos are
available if
desired.
The result, exactly what you desire!
I work on one piece at a time to be able to focus on the quality of the piece.
Woods used in
the
construction of the piece are carefully selected and oriented to accentuate grain
patterns.
I strive to create harmony in the woods used in the furniture piece. Door
panels are book-matched
whenever possible to provide a striking, dramatic look to the
cabinet facade. Small inlay can be
added to enhance the piece.
Designs which involve more complexity than normal also involve more handcrafting
time, this
will
be
included in the price. I take pride in every piece of furniture and wood art that
leaves my studio
and make the effort to ensure it is received correctly along
with providing follow-up.
